- Speak with the physician and explain your medical condition so they can make an informed decision on whether or not you need to be recertified.
When Should You Renew Your Medical Marijuana Card?
When it comes to renewing your medical marijuana card in Oklahoma, timing is everything. According to the regulations set out by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA), you can renew your medical marijuana card up to 30 days before its expiration date, no earlier.
We recommend renewing your medical marijuana card before it expires so that you don’t have to wait for the renewal process to be completed with an expired card. Renewals can take up to 14 days to be processed, so it’s best to get a head start on the renewal process.
How To Renew a Medical Marijuana Card in Oklahoma: 3 Simple Steps
Renewing your medical marijuana card in Oklahoma is a straightforward process. All you need to do is follow this three-step process:
Step 1: Get a Physician MMJ Recertification
To renew your medical marijuana card in Oklahoma, you must first be recertified by a qualified physician. This is an important step that cannot be skipped or delayed, as the OMMA will not process any applications for renewal without a valid recertification document from a qualified physician.
At Oklahoma Cannabis Card, we make the process of getting recertified easier and more convenient than ever before.
You can book an appointment with one of our qualified physicians online anytime, from the comfort of your own home. Plus, we’ll email you your doctor’s signed document within minutes so that you have everything you need to file for renewal with OMMA.
Step 2: File Your Renewal Application
Once you receive your signed recertification form from the physician, you can now file your application for renewal with OMMA.
Head over to the OMMA portal and sign in to your existing account. Remember – it’s important to use the original email and password that were used when creating this account. If you can’t remember your account information, call the OMMA call center at (405) 522-6662.
Once logged in, click on the License Dashboard and select the Action button. From there, select the Patient Renewal option. Your license number will come up – select it and hit Save. On the next screen, click the Save & Next button to confirm your selection.
Next, you’ll need to select your form of ID and put in your ID number. This will take you to the contact screen, where you must verify your physical and mailing addresses (please note that the physical address must be in Oklahoma, not a PO Box). Click on Save & Next once this is done.
On the next page, you’ll need to enter your physician’s information, such as name, address, and medical marijuana recommendation date. Remember: the date of your physician’s signed medical marijuana recommendation can’t be more than 30 days before your renewal application. Click on Save & Next once this is done.
The next page will consist of a series of questions – answer them all as accurately as possible. Once you’re done with that, you can submit your application for processing.
Step 3: Complete Payment, Submit Your Documentation, & Wait For Approval
The final step in the renewal process is all about documentation and fees. First, you’ll need to submit proof of your identity and Oklahoma residency documents. You can use the same documents that were used last time, provided nothing has changed since then. However, if there have been any changes, such as a change of address, you will need to upload new documents for review.
Once that’s done, you can review your information to make sure everything is accurate and up-to-date. If you’re satisfied with the details, you can proceed to pay the fee of $100 (or $20 for disabled veterans) plus a $4.30 service fee via credit card or debit card.
Now all that’s left to do is wait for OMMA to approve your application, which can take up to 14 days. If everything checks out, you should receive your renewed medical marijuana card in the mail shortly.
